It’s an escape you have to make at some time in your life. The strongest and feeblest of minds need the peace that nature can bring.  The Central Colorado Rockies is just the place for it.  The summer nights are cool, the sun is strong in the daytime and the rivers, hillsides and mountains beckon you to stroll, paddle, trek, and just wonder at the beauty of nature. Spouse and I have been married five years.  How time goes so fast…it doesn’t feel like all those years have passed.  Thankfully, Spouse feels the same way.  If we had a chance to do things all over again, we probably would still be married today - seriously. Spouse and I went to Redstone, Colorado to celebrate our 5th anniversary.  We stayed at this family-oriented, pet-friendly place called Avalanche Ranch located on Highway 133 across from the Crystal River.  The photo above was our front porch view for the 3 days we were there.  The mountain is named Mt. Spouse and I just came back from Redstone, Colorado for a short (too short) vacation. On the way to Redstone, we stopped to have lunch in Aspen and found this shoe store named Imelda’s.   I think Imelda Marcos and her shoes have made enough impact on the world that I know this store was named after the former dictator’s widow.

Strangely, on this day I took the photo, they had only handbags and purses in the window.

The local Gazette reported in an article today that Money Magazine rated Colorado Springs the top Best City to Live in the big city category.

Amazing…I didn’t even know we live in a big city.  That’s just how it feels here. In fact, when Spouse and I have to go to Denver for business I get car sick with the weaving in and out of traffic, makes me feel like a country mouse visiting the big city.  Which is what I’ve really turned out to be!

I hope you click on the link to the article.  There’s a pretty picture there that gives you a very good idea of what it’s like to live in Colorado Springs.  There’s a quiet solitude when you sit on a lonely bluff overlooking a few buildings that just gives you a hint of the hustle and bustle in the distance.  That’s exactly what it’s like here.
